Our ethos of developing learning through sensory experiences and active play ensures children are on the right path to becoming confident individuals and successful learners, ready for the next stage in their developmental journey.
At Little Scallywags we understand the importance of active play both in our indoor and outdoor environments.
Daily access to the outdoors contributes positively to child development, child health, and early learning.
Experiencing areas such as our climbing wall, fire pit and tinkering station, with its real-life tools, promote skills for children to learn to manage risks in their play.
Our den building and large loose parts station help children to work as teams and solve problems together.
Through access to our mud kitchen, water stations and vegetable garden the children learn to investigate, explore and ask questions about how nature and the world around us changes and develops.
Not only do our children have daily access to our own nursery garden they also explore all the wonderful beauty spots and community spaces on our doorstep.
At Little Scallywags we believe that children thrive in outdoor play. Our Woodland Wanderer programme supports children to grow and develop in the great outdoors.
All our 3-5 room children are able to take part in our activities based in our amazing rural community.
We run sessions each term, using local woodland areas such as Lady Mary’s Walk & Bennybeg.
The children have the opportunity to play and learn in the outdoors and tailor our weekly experiences to support the children’s next steps in learning.
Our sessions allow for our children to be out of the nursery several times a week all year round.
Who said a classroom needs walls?!
