Adventures with Alice - Making the Mundane Magic and Every Moment will Matter

Adventures with Alice-min.png

Lauren has been on an exciting adventure and has joined Alice Sharp’s year long CPD programme, enabling her to develop the rest of our team.

Alice Sharp is recognised as using a dynamic and innovative approach to children and her exciting new programme is allowing us to enhance all areas of the nursery environment for the children.

It’s not what is in front of you that matters but how you see it.
I am fascinated with people and what makes them tick; what challenges them and what delights and inspires them.
This curiosity and intrigue gives me a unique and different perspective on children and the journey they take.
— Alice Sharp

The one-year programme covers six key areas of learning;

• Curiosity

• Connections and Relationships

• Language

• Thinking

  • Creativity and Wellbeing

Here are the most recent things Lauren has worked with the children to create.

 Adventure 1 – Curiosity.

We have also introduced a curiosity corner, this is going to have a different curious object on it each week. The aim of this is to engage children’s interest, increasing their vocabulary, social development – turn taking, listening skills, sharing- and also getting them to follow simple instructions regarding the care of the item or how that item might work! Our ‘curious’ item will promote the use of all of their sense too! We will be observing and recording their interactions and placing their comments all around the wall.

Adventure 1 – Curiosity.

We have added these into our sensory experiences a lot more, using them to pour, fill and transport (Schematic play) They promote lots of discussion around the different shapes, sizes and the types of pour that they makes. These discussions all help to support the childrens early maths and literacy skills. I would like to ask parents if they have any ‘curious’ containers to add to our collection!

Next on the plan, we are introducing a talking ted and a some more curious pods – spoons/mashers!
